What is an IP Address?
Just as every person has their identification number, every computer has its IP address. The IP address indicates the address of the computer in question, its service provider, and the network to which it is connected. There are different types of IP addresses. Some of them are divided into public and private IP addresses.
An IP address is a number made up of digits. There is four or eight digits total, and three digits separate them. To explain it better, a random IP address could be 111.111.111.111.111. It consists of three digits intersected by dots and a maximum of 12 numbers. It can also be 1.1.1.1.1. These single digits can have a minimum value of 1. Triple digits can take a maximum value of 254. We can say that the numbers specified between each dot in IP addresses take a value between 0 and 255.
What is the Difference between Public IP Address and a Private IP Address?
Each device connected to the Internet network may have its IP address. These devices may not only be limited to computers. It can also be smartphones, headphones, tablets, or other devices. In short, these devices also have their IP address. Each device can be assigned a different IP address so that the devices do not interfere with each other, can be easily distinguished from each other, and data can be transferred correctly. These are called private IP addresses.
There is also a public IP address. A public IP address is when every device connected to the same network has a public IP number. The public IP address allows you to distinguish devices connected to the same network from foreign devices. Public IP addresses can also be separated within themselves.
What Does an IP Address Do?
IP addresses are different for each device, meaning a meeting point for each device. Two different computers can communicate by finding each other thanks to the IP address. For this, computers do not need to be connected to the same network. This way, the data can go to the correct address when you want to reach from one end of the world to the other. In a way, we can say that the data circulating on the internet creates a map for themselves, thanks to their IP addresses. Thanks to these maps, data on the internet can find where to go. How Can You Find Out Your IP Address?
IP addresses are different from each other. There are various ways to find the IP address of your device. It may even vary from device to device. But one of the easiest methods is to type “What is my IP number?” into Google while your device is connected to the internet. If you type “What is my IP number?” into Google, it will show you your IP address. The path to follow is a little different for those who want to find the hidden IP address.
People who want to find IP addresses as a second way can get help from sites established for this purpose. Specific existing sites can be set to query IP addresses. Thanks to these sites, people can find the opportunity to access their IP addresses whenever they want.
With such methods, you may sometimes not be able to reach your IP address directly. There are some methods you need to apply according to the device you use to access IP addresses personally. Some of these methods are as follows:
If you are a Windows user, the first step is to open the command prompt. You can press the R key and CTRL key to perform this step. Then it would help if you type CMD in the window that opens. Then press the enter button to proceed to the second step. After opening the command prompt, it is enough to enter the ipconfig command. It is also possible to access IP addresses from the place shown as IPv4 in the command output.
If the person who wants to find out the IP address is a macOS user, they first need to open system preferences. Then you should select the network panel. Select connections and click on the “advanced” button. Finally, you can find your IP address by clicking on the TCP / IP tab to view IP addresses.
If the person who wants to know their IP address is an iOS user, they first need to select settings. Secondly, you should tap on the Wi-Fi network. Third and finally, you can see your IP address by clicking on the network connection.
If the person who wants to know their IP address is an Android user, they first need to enter the “Applications” tab. Secondly, you should enter the settings section. After the settings section, you need to select the “Wireless and Networks” section. Then you can learn your IP address by selecting the network they are using. This way, people can learn their private IP addresses according to the device’s difference.
